Capital Campaign Update
Plan & Permission:
Our final Campaign goal for Xavier Catholic School is a facility encompassing a gym and commons area. In an effort to achieve that goal we are extending the Capital Campaign. Given our success thus far, Archbishop Naumann has given us permission to ask donors if they wish to give additional gifts/extend pledges from the original three years to five years.
Need:
This new facility will enable our children to have a gym large enough for all extra-curricular activities as well as a commons area that can be used as a cafeteria and for All School Masses. If you came to the dedication on August 20, you could see the small size of the gym; no storage room, no room for bleachers. If you attend the school Mass when the rain keeps students from walking to Annunciation Chapel, you would see that as a student body it is a tight fit! Also, something to be considered is the fact that part of the current gym encroaches on (the right of way) City of Leavenworth property. Although not in the City’s immediate plans, if Muncie Road is ever widened, at least part of the gym would have to come down.
Finances:
Now that the new school has been given a Catholic identity and the classrooms renovated, remaining pledges will go towards the new gymnasium/commons area. Total estimated cost of the new facility is $1,736,475. For every 60 days we wait to give Kaaz Construction the go-ahead, we run the risk of a 5% increase in price. We are 62% of the way there. The construction will take an estimated nine months to complete. The sooner we get started, the sooner and less expensive it will be for us!

The Greenway Auction is the largest fundraiser for our schools! Mark your calendars for March 31, 2012! Many thanks to Shelly Cannon for graciously accepting the role of Chairperson! The theme for this year is "Field of Dreams."
